More Lunatic Than Calm Vol. 2
More Lunatic Than Calm Vol. 2 is out today, continuing our excavation of the Lunatic Calm archives and bringing another nine tracks from the vaults into the world.
The album digs further into music Howie Saunders and I made during Lunatic Calm’s original 1996-2002 era, including rare and previously unreleased tracks that have spent the last quarter of a century sitting on hard drives and tapes gathering dust. Breakbeats, acid, distorted electronics, head-wrecking sonics and various other curiosities from the more unruly corners of the Lunatic Calm archives.
Among them is Losing the Rush, a track I’ve occasionally shared fragments of over the years but which has never had a proper release. To mark the album coming out, I’ve paired it with some equally unseen footage from our US travels in 1998 (check this out on Instagram): motel rooms, backstage nonsense, endless roads and some spectacularly questionable trousers.
The album follows More Lunatic Than Calm Vol. 1 and More Calm Than Lunatic, which between them have been gradually revealing a much larger body of Lunatic Calm music than ever made it onto the original records.
There are still things down there in the vaults. For now, though, these nine are finally out.
