Exit Music (For A Film)
There are songs that etch themselves into your bones - moments of pure stillness where the music seems to hold its breath. Exit Music (For A Film) by Radiohead has always been one of those for me.
This song also holds a personal connection. Thom and I played music together at university, and I have vivid memories of that time - the raw creative energy, the feeling that something new was emerging. Covering this track all these years later carries an extra weight for me, a quiet nod to those formative days and the paths that music has taken us down since. Huge credit also must got to Howie Saunders and Jez Noble for their contributions to this version on guitars and drums.
This version is my way of paying quiet respect to that feeling. It is both a homage and a reinterpretation - reimagined through my own sonic lens, with the cinematic textures and emotional depth that have become part of The Shadowmaker world.
I first performed this piece during The Shadowmaker sessions, where it took on new meaning amid themes of reflection, vulnerability, and release. Revisiting it now felt natural - a moment to pause, to reconnect with the raw essence of why I started making music in the first place.
The track balances delicate intimacy with widescreen sound design - a slow burn that builds toward catharsis. It is less about covering a song and more about inhabiting its spirit, finding the emotional undercurrent that connects both worlds.
