CHPTR003 - SAN FRANCISCO
In early November I drove from Colorado to San Francisco for CHPTR 003 at Monarch. A huge, 2800-mile, round trip which I undertook to avoid any danger of last minute flight cancellations thanks to the bonkers government shutdown in the US at the time.
Long drives have always been useful thinking space for me, especially when I’m preparing extended sets, and by the time I reached the Bay Area the outline of the night felt settled rather than overworked. CHPTR, at its core, is about allowing time for things to unfold, and that sense of pacing carries through from preparation into the room itself.
CHPTR 003 was an open-to-close set, built as a long-form journey rather than a sequence of peaks and it’s a format that continues to feel essential to how I want to DJ at this stage, because it allows for patience, range, and narrative without rushing the room or forcing constant momentum. The night at Monarch reflected that approach, with space to move gradually and let the energy develop naturally over a number of hours.
What stood out most was the quality of engagement in the room. There was a mix of familiar faces and new connections, and a shared willingness to stay with the arc of the set rather than treat it as background or spectacle. Those are the nights that remind me why this format still matters.
The full CHPTR 003 set from San Francisco is now available as an archive. It’s presented as a complete, uninterrupted recording, with the full tracklisting and download link being available from my DISCORD with immediate effect. As always, I really do appreciate your comments and shares across social media.
