THE SHOT : Greatstone-on-Sea at Sunrise
THE STORY : On a stunning September morning I got up before dawn and shot down the road towards the nearby Kentish Coast to photograph Greatstone-on-Sea at sunrise. As you may know by now, sunrise is my favourite time of day. It heralds a new dawn amidst a perfectly orchestrated lightshow with the blues melting into reds and oranges as the glow of a new day permeates the air.
It's a precious time for me.
There's rarely a soul around and I can luxuriate in the silence, the peace, the sense of rebirth. This morning was a waiting game, and finally when the sun rose above the slight haze on the horizon, I was ready to capture the moment it rose above the spire of the landing platform tethered out in the ocean.
THE AWARD : This image was the winner of the Explore Kent #gooutside contest, 2017.
